FAQs

Do you offer courses and programmes online?

Yes, with current COVID-19 restrictions, we now conduct our courses, modules and programmes online using Zoom, Google Classroom or similar.

What courses do you provide?

We offer a wide range of bespoke level 5 & 6 QQI accredited courses. These range from manual handling, to disability awareness programmes, to special needs assisting, and much more. See them here.

How long do I have to complete the courses?

The duration of our courses vary across different programmes. Some are self-paced, such as QQI level 5 Early Childhood Care & Education and QQI level 6 Disability Awareness, whereas our Manual Handling Training is only a 3 hour programme.

Is it a good time to complete the Special Needs Assisting course?

Yes! There is no better time to train as a Special Needs Assistant. With over 1000 new jobs advertised in the most recent education budgets, now is the time to complete this course! Check out our blog post for more on this.

What is the difference between a Minor Award and a Major Award?

A major award represents a significant amount of work – usually comprising of 7, or 8 minor awards (i.e. modules). For example, our QQI Level 5 Major Award in Early Childhood Care and Education consists of 8 modules. If a learner completes all 8, they will earn a Major Award. If they complete just one individual module, they will earn a Minor Award. More information is found here

How long does it take to get my results and certificate?

A learner’s completed work must go through 4 stages in order to pass the QQI Assessment Period. This includes your tutor’s initial assessment, both an internal and external authentication verification as well as a final check. Read more about it on our blog page here

Are there any grants or funding available for the training courses?

Yes! SICAP funding available for Jobseekers, part-time employed workers, people currently on the PUP or Wage Subsidy Scheme who are out of work, and people on a Tús or CE programme through Westmeath Community Development.

Do I have to pay all at once?

No, a deposit for the course is required to book your place but the remainder of the fee can be paid at a later stage. More information is available in https://aspiretraining.ie/category/training-courses-programmes/

How do I register for a course?

You can register for a course either by completing the registration form https://aspiretraining.ie/registration-form/, or by calling us at 044 934 8936.

What qualifications do I need to register?

The entry requirements for our courses can be found within each course under ‘Courses & Programmes’. Some level 6 courses require the learner to have previously completed a QQI level 5 award, or similar. Fluent written and oral English is required. Also, relevant work/life experience is recommended, but not mandatory.

Can I register for a level 6 without doing the level 5?

There is no simple yes or no answer to this question. Some providers may allow you to skip the level 5 award. However, the most ethical approach, and the one recommended by QQI is to undertake the level 5 first. To read more on this, read our blog post!
